The cycling project began in 2012, when Public Health - Medway created a project that bought like minded individuals together to create a dedicated group of volunteer leaders, cyclists, coaches and mechanics.
Over the years, the small group has grown into a friendly and supportive community, helping more people discover the many benefits of cycling via various activities.
While the number of led rides offered has naturally evolved into a smaller core of regular weekday cyclists, the project continues to adapt and grow to the modern demands.
We have started to create a focus on a welcoming and inclusive environment where anyone can get involved in up-skilling their cycling journey from learning the simple maintenance task of ABC of a bike, through to leading and even coaching a community cycle ride.
We are targeting those that are new to cycling, have a bike in the shed in need of some tlc, returning after some time away, looking for advice to get cycling or just to meet others and get active. Our project is here to help you get started, feel confident, and remove any barriers that are holding you back from riding your bike.
Our approach is simple:
Encourage more people to choose cycling as part of a lifestyle change.
Support active travel across Medway.
Educate participants on the benefit of a healthier lifestyles
Create opportunities for social connection through cycling and physical activity
Help create confidence and enjoyment from being outdoors
Cycling can be a simple, enjoyable way to improve your health, boost wellbeing, and get around more sustainably.
Our project is all about making that journey easier, and more enjoyable for everyone
