Job Description

We’re looking for a great mechanic.

BLB is synonymous with all things urban cycling and we’re at the forefront of Europe’s cycling culture selling the best brands – both new and vintage – across the UK and Europe through our website and in the Store on the corner of Brick Lane.

Our workshop is central to our Store offering, with 2 stations constantly busy at all times of the day. When our mechanics aren’t looking after customer bikes – which is rarely – they’re building bikes and wheels for our online business.

BLB is a great place to work, always busy, noisy and fun. This isn’t an environment for the faint-hearted – it’s for the mechanic who likes a dynamic vibe, knows their Urban stuff, wants to be tested and gets the work done quickly and efficiently.

Skills/Experience Required

  • 3 years plus experience working in a busy workshop
  • Great Mechanic skills - and we're happy with experience first, Cytech second - single speed and commuter bike focused (rather than Di2)
  • A can do attitude – we want to get riders back on the road as soon as is possible. We diagnose, chat to the customers as they arrive, quote, organise the pick-up time and then get the work done before that pick-up time! (6 until 7 most evenings is pretty frenetic).
  • Strong customer service skills is critical to getting the job done
  • Wheel building experience would be great - we build wheels for clients within the shop and through our web store,
  • We sell vintage frames and parts – some knowledge would be very useful!
