ACT teams with Future Publishing to promote Cytech
2 Dec 2009
The Association of Cycle Traders and Future Publishing have teamed up to promote Cytech, the industry's only recognised training and accreditation scheme for cycle mechanics.
Future Publishing's cycling magazines will carry the Cytech logo on product testing pages as part of the company's commitment to support the efforts of the ACT in developing and promoting Cytech.
Future employs a Cytech-trained cycle mechanic at its bike workshop to set up the more than 700 bikes it reviews each year. "The practical and theory tests required to pass a Cytech course ensure our bikes have been properly set up to manufacturer's guidelines and British Standards," said the editor-in-chief of Future's cycling titles, John Stevenson.
"We believe good service is crucial to ongoing growth in the cycling sector and we're happy to help the Association of Cycle Traders promote this programme," he added.
Future Publishing will also put the product editors of Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike, and two lucky readers, through the two-day Cytech Home Mechanic course next year.
This course gives people the confidence to carry out repairs and servicing while also teaching the learner when a task should be carried out by a more experienced trained technician.
Mark Brown from ACT added: "Future gives us a great platform to promote Cytech to a very wide audience, thereby increasing awareness of the technical skills and services which cycle retailers invest in to support their customers."
