Bike Week helps make 2013 the biggest year ever for cycling

Posted on in Cycles News

As the nation falls in love with cycling, Bike Week 2013 focuses on offering inspiration, advice and practical help

This June, hundreds of Bike Week (15-23 June) events will offer top tips and advice to feed Britain's growing love for cycling - and hopes to inspire new and lapsed cyclists who want to fall back in love with a bike.

Bike Week Conscious of the pressure on household finances, Bike Week will focus on providing advice for every budget - whether would-be cyclists are looking for guidance on where to buy a bike locally for everyday use; or low cost options via a great bike recycling scheme; or advice on how to patch up an old bike - the Bike Week Dr Bikes will guide cyclists on how to mend and when to spend.

Recent research shows that at least four in ten Brits now cycle and with the newly released government plans for improved infrastructure and training Bike Week hopes to capitalise on these incentives to help to get as many people as possible back on two wheels this summer.

Andre Curtis, Bike Week, said: ‘With the Olympic glory of last summer, the new government plans and more cycling solutions for every budget - we anticipate that this year will be the biggest year ever for bikes - with more people than ever falling in love with cycling.

Bike Week MP RideBut many haven't been on a bike for years and simply don't know where to start, or if they have a bike, might have no idea how to get it back in working order. That's where Bike Week can help. It's the perfect opportunity for everyday cyclists to get advice or be inspired by taking part in a led ride. Our Dr Bikes can help with problems that are easy to mend and will provide guidance on when and where to spend locally for a professional fix.

‘We urge any Bike shop that is interested in taking part in their local Bike Week event to visit and contact the nearest event organiser."

Bike Week is the UK's biggest mass participation cycling event, taking place between 15- 23 June across the country. To get involved or find out more visit .
