Do you want an extra £41m for cycling in London?

Posted on in Cycles News

Next Monday the London Assembly votes on a motion calling on Mayor Boris Johnson to increase spending on cycling next year from £104 million to £145 million.

The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is calling on London cyclists and members of the cycling industry to write to their Assembly Members to ensure they vote in favour of the increase.

This extra £41 million would make a vital difference to tackling dangerous junctions and creating the kind of safe and inviting streets that was called for in the LCC's Love London, Go Dutch campaign

However, there's no guarantee Assembly Members will vote for the increase, which is why the LCC is asking you to write to yours telling them why it's so important.

To help make writing to your Assembly Member easier, the LCC have created a letter writing tool here.

"We know many Assembly Members are undecided, so it's crucial you take a moment to write, urging them to vote for the £41 million," said LCC chief executive Ashok Sinha. "Thanks for taking action today - together we can make our city a better place."
